Dental implants is a staged procedure
  • Placement of the implants beneath the gums in the bone - possibly augmented with your own bone, freeze dried bone, and/or a synthetic bone
  • Let the implants integrate for two (2) to six (6) months
  • Preparation of the replacement teeth in the form of individual crowns or bridgework which will attach to the buried implants
  • Uncover the implants and placement of abutments which will attach to your replacement teeth

Failure of implants
  • Rejection of the implant which is rare
  • Failure due to improper oral hygiene practices

Chin Augmentation Prosthesis
  • Used for receding chins
  • Sized to fit patient
  • Placed in front of the existing chin bone to increase the chin's prominence through an Intraoral incision
  • Body can reject the implant
  • Alternative treatment - sliding genioplasty where the anterior portion of the lower jaw is moved forward or backward to change the prominence of the chin and fixated with a small plate

Malar Implants
  • Gives definition to a flat face
  • Creates the appearance of higher prominent cheekbones
  • Usually placed through incisions in the mouth
  • Body can reject the implants
